How to Prepare UKPSC Syllabus Through Self Study?

Tips to Prepare UKPSC Syllabus through Self Study

UKPSC conducts the UKPSC PCS exam every year to appoint civil servants in the state. Many candidates apply for several posts such as Police Sub Inspector, Registrar, District Supply Officer etc. To qualify the exam candidates should follow the UKPSC syllabus

  1. But before that, it is important to be reminded that the UKPSC Exam is divided into three stages, namely: 
  1. Begin your preparation with the NCERT books. They are especially helpful for revising your General Studies section.
  2. It is essential to gain general and factual knowledge of the state, i.e., Uttarakhand, in-depth. Your grasp of current affairs must be thoroughly strong to clear the General Studies paper. Examples of topics are governance, history, the geography of the state and India, Indian polity, economic and social development, science, and technology, to name a few. You are advised to follow and read major magazines and newspapers in India, like The Indian Express, The Hindu, Dainik Jagran, etc., every day and make notes diligently. 
  3. Along with this, practising previous years’ papers is a must to be better acquainted with the exam pattern as there is a negative marking of one-fourth in the Mains Examination. This will also give you an idea to focus on your weaknesses along with time management. 
  4. Hence, it is important to plan a schedule if clearing UKPSC is your goal. You should devote a fixed amount of mindful hours per day to prepare and enhance your skills (relative as it is subjected to your attention and requirements). Dividing your goals on a biweekly system, remember to take every paper thoroughly as per the month’s schedule.  
  5. For the General Aptitude Paper, you must strengthen your logical and analytical skills along with language and communication skills. 
  6. Prepare for your Mains Exam with a duration of 3 hours each accordingly:

All the sections and subjects must be thoroughly given equal importance and weightage to score higher marks. 

  1. Please remember to practice grammar, paragraph and precis writing, along with formulating short and correct sentences for your General Language Papers.
