Lateral stream assessments will stay free, the UK’s schooling secretary Nadhim Zahawi has insisted amid reviews they may very well be scaled again regardless of hovering Covid circumstances.
The Sunday Instances had reported that prime minister Boris Johnson would announce that free assessments can be axed and restricted to high-risk settings and for individuals with signs.
However talking to Sky Information’ Trevor Phillips this morning, Zahawi stated he was “barely puzzled” by the report and that assessments would proceed to be accessible free of charge. He stated:
I noticed that story this morning, which I used to be barely puzzled by as a result of I don’t recognise it in any respect. That is completely not the place we’re at.
For January alone 425 million lateral stream assessments (are) coming in and they’ll proceed to be accessible free of charge.
I don’t actually recognise the place that story is coming from.
Requested whether or not there are plans to cease lateral stream assessments being free, Zahawi replied: “Completely not.”
